I decided to follow along with Kelly Young's Quilt-Along at My Quilt Infatuation at the beginning of the summer and have finished my quilt. It's always a great feeling to have a finished project. This quilt is a perfect lap quilt that I'm gifting myself. This is the first quilt I've made that I'm keeping. I feel a little guilty keeping this one, but since the person I have to answer to is myself, I'm letting that feeling go. I'm just going to enjoy having this one in my home.
I love your quilt - and I just had to reply to your comment on Plum & June's linkup - I love Jane Austen novels!!
ReplyDeleteJanet, you totally deserve a quilt for you! This quilt is really gorgeous. I love your fabrics and I that backing just rocks! I'm so glad you participated in the QAL!

It looks gorgeous! Great job!
ReplyDeleteYour quilt is absolutely gorgeous. I wouldn't have been able to give it away either. I love the back as much as the front.

It looks beautiful! I think you deserve to keep it. (And if you're itching to start another quilt along, there's one that just started on my blog http://helpinglittlehands.blogspot.com/2013/07/hexies-from-halves-quilt-along-lesson-1.html
ReplyDeleteBeautiful quilt, beautiful backing. Of course you must keep it!
ReplyDeleteDropped by from QS Fabric Tuesday and LGA - fab top and backing, great quilt :)
ReplyDeleteBeautiful quilt, front and back!
ReplyDeleteLove the colors, and the way you pieced the back! I'm currently working on my own quilt for myself (like you I always give mine away). It only took me 5 years to do it!

ReplyDeleteIt looks great! I'd say it's a keeper too!
ReplyDeleteI dont blame you for keeping this quilt, is absolutely beautiful!
ReplyDeleteThanks for linking up to 'Anything Goes'
This is lovely. I'm especially in love with the back and how it looks like a stack of books :D thanks for the inspiration!
ReplyDeleteLove the Amy Butler fabrics, those big prints need generous sized pieces to show off their pretty colours and patterns! Rectangles rock!
ReplyDeleteVery nice!! I like doing piecing on the back of my quilts too!!
ReplyDeleteGorgeous finish. Surround yourself with what you love=quilts!! Once I was in the home of a well known local quilter and was very shocked and disappointed to not see one quilt anywhere! Enjoy your handiwork!
ReplyDeleteOh my! Can't even handle how much I love this quilt. I can't decide which side I like better! What a great use of these fabrics - they were one of the first I bought and I love this use of them! Great job!
ReplyDeleteKeep this beauty without feeling guilty please! It will just inspire you every day to make more gorgeous quilt (to give away)

I love your quilt!!! I'm glad you're keeping it.
ReplyDeleteWhat a great choice of color for your binding, you've done a beautiful job on this quilt!
Lovely quilt, I can definitely see why you are keeping it!
ReplyDeleteYay! It's beautiful! I love the back almost as much as the front! Thanks for linking up with TGIFF! Can you put a link back to the party in your post so your readers can find us? Thanks!
ReplyDeleteLooking pretty!! Excellent work!
ReplyDeleteGreat quilt. If you had shown the same number of pictures of the back as the front I would have thought you had done 2 spectacular quilts. One side is as pretty as the other.
ReplyDeleteLove it. Seriously. Love. It.
ReplyDeleteJanet, that's an amazing quilt - front and back!!! I don't blame you at all for keeping it for yourself. I make a lot of charity quilts each year, but when I go on vacation each summer, I take my sewing machine and make a quilt for myself in the evenings while I'm gone. It's just a little gift to myself, and I don't feel guilty about it at all - because it's only once a year!
ReplyDeleteWhoop whoop for your beautiful finish!!
Thank you for Linking Up to LAFF.

Wonderful finish - such a pretty quilt with all kinds of lovely fabrics. Enjoy it.
ReplyDeleteI love the way we can come online and find others just happening to be at the same stage we are in some way or another. That is to say, I just put the finishing stitches on my first quilt for myself too!
ReplyDeleteI don't know how you could pick a favorite side of this quilt; they 're both great. Enjoy it!
Sweet quilt and I love the backing! Good for you keeping this one for yourself! Who could blame you? It is sew-weet!

You should keep and enjoy-guilt free!
ReplyDeleteThis quilt is amazing. I love all the bold prints. Sometimes I worry that something like this won't work. The finished quilts are always great, though. I'm not sure anyone but you would really appreciate like you do.
