I also started working on the quilting for the Sunrise quilt. I started with the pillow shams and was able to finish one last night. I finished the quilting and piecing of it right before Downton Abbey and Sherlock and spent my time during the shows hand-stitching the binding. I have one more sham to go and basting/quilting/binding of the full-size quilt.
Here is the back of the sham.
I love your flying geese, its lovely! I vote for a deep red/pink ... whichever is in your quilt, cant quite tell on the screen put it would be great to make that color pop!
ReplyDeleteI love your flying geese quilt. I think any of the softer colours from the quilt would work for a binding, maybe a blue or green. Then it would be different from the white but still not take away from the beautiful center.
ReplyDeleteBoth look great!
ReplyDeleteI think this quilt would lend itself really well to a scrappy binding if you have leftover scraps of the flying geese fabrics. If not, I'd go with a deep purple or deep pink (coordinating with some of those darker fabrics in the geese).
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely quilt! I think a nice green would look great as binding.
ReplyDeleteYour flying geese are awesome! I think they are one of my favorite blocks. I see a scrappy binding... using the colors in the geese. And your pillow shams are so cute, too! Great colors.
ReplyDeleteLove your flying geese quilt - my thoughts are that a coloured binding will detract from the design so I'd think about binding in the same fabric that you've sashed with - let those geese speak for themselves! Fab sham too :D
ReplyDeleteI love that pillow sham - its so bright and sunny! :o)
ReplyDeleteLove flying geese! I think a pink or green or a multicolor stripe would make cool binding:)
ReplyDeleteThese look so great! I especially love the pillow shams.
ReplyDeleteI'd pull a color from the geese, maybe a pink? This is my favorite quilt so far in 2014!
ReplyDeleteYour quilt looks great! How about a scrappy binding? I think that would look beautiful with all those colorful geese.
ReplyDeleteThe flying geese quilt is beautiful! I want one! lol, :)
ReplyDeletelove the geese, and of course when in doubt, I always go with green on a binding, or I agree that scrappy would also look great against all of the white. the sham looks so fun too!

The flying geese look great, what about a stripe binding like on the pillow sham?
ReplyDeletelove the quilt, I think it would look great if you made binding using all the fabrics you have used in the quilt, have you enough to do it and also the will to do it, think I a being a bit hard on you but it would look awesome
ReplyDeleteEver so bright and pretty and I agree with some of the other ladies, scrappy from left over fabrics used in the quilt :)
ReplyDeleteflying geese are amazing, love the pillow too!! (from quilt story linkup)
ReplyDeleteLove your quilt! I would pull one of the darker fabrics from your geese! To really make the binding pop! :)

Love the quilt - I agree with above - pull a darker color from the flying geese. It will make everything pop. Looking good :)
ReplyDeleteOoooh I love these geese! The colors are lovely together. I vote for either a pink binding or stripes. You honestly cannot go wrong with stripes. P.S. I am always happiest when I finish a quilt just in time for Downton or Sherlock! YAY!
ReplyDeleteLove the flying geese and the quilting on the quilt. As for those pillow shams, they just cheer up a cold winter's day.
ReplyDeleteI seriously love that quilt! wow. As for binding I suggest using a color that is in the quilt but not a lot, or that doesn't stand out. Like the jade/teal color. The shams turned out lovely!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful quilt! I'm thinking a prairie points binding using the quilt's fabric scraps might be pretty. I also love the pillow sham!!
ReplyDeletethose flying geese are lovely, love all those fabrics you use, and such a bright and happy cushion
ReplyDeleteLove the flying geese! It is amazing how versatile they are! I really like your layout. The fabric and quilting are wonderful! I have not done flying geese and every time I see them I think - I am going to have to get on that!! :)
ReplyDeleteThose Geese are beautiful.
ReplyDeleteFound you via WIP Wednesday. I love the rainbow pillowshams and the flying geese are great. Normally people use colour for the geese, I love that this is the plain part on your quilt
ReplyDeleteBeautiful projects. I love the rainbow pillow shams and your flying geese quilt is very stunning.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful projects and something colorful for the binding on the quilt or scrappy! Thanks for sharing.

The flying geese quilt is lovely. I'd vote for a binding using some of the left over fabrics (if you have some).
ReplyDeleteGorgeous pillow shams. I am a sucker for rainbow strips! Love that striped binding. Congrats on finishing the quilting on the flying geese quilt! I would suggest a green that matches the fabrics used in the quilt for the binding.
ReplyDeleteStopping in from Let's Bee Social and it's nice to have found your blog. I love the pillow sham!! The quilt is pretty too. What about a black & white Heath print or a small-scale polka dot, white on charcoal? Black might be too harsh but something close would frame your quilt nicely, at least I think it would! Enjoyed my visit. Thanks!
ReplyDeleteI love that flying geese quilt!!!
ReplyDeleteI suggest a scrappy binding - it's not going to show that much, but will frame it nonetheless. Love it!
ReplyDeleteHand-sewing binding during an episode of Downton Abbey is one of my favorite ways to spend Sunday evening! Love the flying geese, and the sham, too!
ReplyDeleteMaybe do a striped red binding:) It's stunning!!
ReplyDeleteI say go with a scrappy binding to pull in the colors of those geese.
ReplyDeleteLovely quilt!
ReplyDeleteFor the binding, I'd do a white/background binding, with scrappy faux piping from some of the fabrics used for the geese! It would echo the squares/geese in a similar proportion.
Love the flying geese quilt. Suggest you use a solid bold colour to bind it like ink blue or red as the quilt has shades of blue and red.
ReplyDeleteThe quilt is absolutely beautiful. i am so motivated to make one of my own :)
