My name is Janet and I live in Memphis, TN. I'm originally from Texas (Hook'em Horns!) and will always be a Texan at heart, but I've come to love my new home in Tennessee. My husband and I have 2 beautiful children. My daughter is getting ready to start kindergarten in just a few weeks and my son is hopefully moving past the trying 3's. We can only hope!

I converted my dining room into my sewing space and it is such a huge blessing. I sew on an inherited Bernina 1030 given to me by my grandmother and a Juki TL2010Q. These two machines make creating so much fun.
Enough about me; here are some of my favorite quilts that I've made.

I have a love for hand-applique. I feel like I have a bit more freedom in my design this way, and it's a great way to personalize a quilt.

ReplyDeleteIt's so funny to hear about kids starting school soon, Janet, because up here in the north they only got out two weeks ago! My oldest is starting K also, but a full two months from today : ) Love the giraffe quilt!

ReplyDeleteI just moved from Texas myself to Colorado! The trying threes are HARD! My four year old is doing better but holy cow this is the age of WHY! Although I will take that over the twos and threes! I love your quilts and my son would LOVE your batman applique quilt! He is a HUGE fan! Did you use a pattern? Nice to meet you on this fun hop! My husband is a Capricorn, too. :) I typically read through my Bloglovin' feed in the morning after 45 minutes of yoga/meditation while I enjoy a hot cup of tea (green jasmine is my current go-to) with my cat curled up in my lap. It's a great way to start my day - lots of wonderful inspiration to jump start the day. Your Modern Lone Star quilt really speaks to me, and the Texas Threads quilt makes me both miss Austin and get really excited for QuiltCon! :)

I'm still mourning Arkansas Traveller being given to someone else. :) I agree with your taste in books. I didn't realize you only began your blog last may! My dad always said it was ok for us to move to TN because TX was fondes by a large number of Tennessians. And the Oilers moved there too. Nice post! Congrats to one of the most accomplished and tasteful quilters I know. :)

ReplyDeleteGreat post for the blog hop. Man, I LOVE your sewing area. It's just gorgeous and your fabric hutch is amazing! In our previous home I used our dining room but now I have a dedicated office space which is nice, but I'm removed from all the family activity so I don't sew as much. Tulips are my favorite flower too, but I don't see them now that we've moved to Florida.
