PB&J

A while back, I ended up purchasing several charm packs because they were on sale.  I'm easily enticed by beautiful fabric collections, but I can't always afford to buy larger quantities of it.  When I found out that a friend was expecting a little boy, I knew I was going to be able to put one of those collections to good use.

I had a lot of fun putting together this quilt using the PB&J collection.  I love the scrappy look and the simplicity of the pattern.  I also had fun taking pictures of the quilt at a local book collection sculpture outside a nearby library.  My daughter, who helped me hold up the quilt for pictures, had a lot of fun walking around trying to sound out the titles of the books.  She's only 4, but no word is too big for her to try and tackle.

For the back, I utilized the last block left over from the front.  For the quilting, I used 4 different thread colors to add additional interest to the quilt, which really stands out on the back.  I also added the initial of the baby boy.

This quilt has been washed and is ready for delivery.

  12. Love the quilt (and that line of fabric). Sometimes I use multiple colors in the bobbin to use them up. I will now say I did it on purpose to add interest.

  29. What a clever idea to put the baby's initial on the back! That way it doesn't take away from the pattern on front while making it more personal.
